Apologetics UK is a group of Christians here in the UK dedicated to sharing our faith in Jesus Christ by engaging others on a wide range of subjects related to Apologetic and Theological matters.
Our goal is to demonstrate that the Christian faith is rooted in sound evidence and reason. We also seek to encourage other Christians here in the UK to be good ambassadors (2 Cor 5:20) and challenge them to present the Gospel persuasively, passionately and gracefully. For various reasons as a group we have been encouraged as Christians or persuaded as sceptics that other world-views fall short and that the Christian world-view is persuasive and both intellectually and emotionally satisfying.
We hope to create a resource for Christians here on our blog where Christians can find answers to questions they've had or been asked, so please feel free to ask questions and please request to join our Facebook Group here. To find out a little more about us listen to Brian Auten's interview of some of the UK Apologetics team here.
We will endeavour to answer the questions people here in the UK are actually asking, and hopefully in the future we will be able to develop the group to be able to assist churches here in the UK with providing resources and speakers to equip the church for mission and for reasonable and persuasive evangelism.
Creation and other divisive topics - AUK represent a number of views and we don't hold to any particular view in terms of creation other than God being the creator, whether that be through Theistic Evolution, Intelligent Design or something else. On matters of Theology there are also varying views on a number of subjects and we feel this represents Christianity as a whole on peripheral issues. As a group we have no problem agreeing with the historical creeds of Christianity.

Calum Miller - I am a Christian, currently in my final year of pre-clinical Medicine (with a year in Neuroscience) in Oxford. This Autumn I'm hoping to start clinical school as well as starting a part-time PhD in Philosophy of Religion. I'm interested in everything of apologetic interest, particularly the Philosophy of Religion and natural theology. I run my own apologetics website, Dove Theology, and am also a part of Apologetics.com and its UK branch ApologeticsUK.com. Outside of apologetics, I'm into music (including hip hop), sport, debating and, to some degree, Medicine.
Chris Williams - I have had the privilege of serving the Lord since 1998. I completed my Bachelor of Arts with a double major in English and Religious Studies. I also received my Master of Arts in Religious Studies. I am currently pursuing my Ph.D. in New Testament Literature. My research interests include: the Dead Sea Scrolls, the historical Jesus, and the medical evidence for immortality of the human soul. I have participated in several archaeological excavations on Mount Zion in Jerusalem during my trips to Israel in 2007 and 2009.
Failedatheist- I've been a Christian since 2005, where prior to that I was an Atheist. Many Atheists tell me that I couldn't have been a real Atheist since I'm now a Christian, however I can't help but think that I would be in a better position to determine what I have or haven't believed. My journey from Atheism can be best described as being a cumulative case that persuaded me first of Gods existence, then that Jesus had risen from the dead and revealed God to us and subsequently the failure of philosophical naturalism as a sustainable world-view. My areas of interest are Normative and Applied Ethics as well as Moral Theology, I have a B Sc in Health Sciences & History and currently undertaking an MA in Contemporary Ethics.
Rational Gaze - Despite being "raised a Christian" I didn't actually start believing in
Christianity until my late teenage years, unironically spurred on by
coming into contact with drivel such as the God Delusion, but also from
reading apologetical works. After analysing the evidence, I came to
faith in Christ. I am currently on my third and final year of studying a
BA in History and Music at the University of Chichester, where I am
doing my dissertation on the historicity of Jesus' resurrection. After
this, I plan on pursuing an MA and PhD at the University of Southampton.
I one day hope to move either to the US or Switzerland. When I am not
busy battling stupidity on the Internet, I spend my time reading copious
amounts of books, playing video games, listening to progressive melodic
death metal, whilst enjoying a spot of tea.
Jonathan Mclatchie - I've been a Christian since 1996, having had the privilege of being raised in a Christian home. I am 23 years old, and have become interested in Christian apologetics over the last 4 or 5 years. I hold an honors degree in Forensic Biology, and a Masters (M.Res) degree in Evolutionary Biology. I am a proponent of the scientific theory of intelligent design (ID), about which I have written extensively on Evolution News & Views and Uncommon Descent, in addition to being involved with the Centre for Intelligent Design UK. I am also a contributor to various apologetics websites including ApologeticAlliance.com CrossExamined.org, AllAboutGod.com, and GotQuestions.org. I have participated in a number of summer internships: those have been with the Discovery Institute in Seattle Washington, with AllAboutGod in Colorado Springs and with Frank Turek in Charlotte North Carolina. I am also a graduate of the CrossExamined Instructor Academy (CIA) and the Discovery Institute's student summer seminar program. Outside of my academic interests, I am also a tournament chess player, with a FIDE (International Chess Federation) rating of 1855.
Joshua Gidney - Due to my strong Christian upbringing and being the son of a pastor, Christianity has always been a vastly significant part of my life. In my early teens I made a formal commitment to Christ and continue in my sincere attempt to follow him. I'm 23 and in my final year of my degree at Leeds College of music. Music has always been a huge part of my life and I play the Saxophone and Piano. Although I've never been an 'academic', and seriously struggled at school and college, about 4 years ago I developed a curious obsession with apologetics. This developed out of a period of vexing intellectual doubts when I first went to college in my teens. A large portion of my time is now spent reading, writing, and articulating a rational defence of the Christian faith. I run a blog, The God Hypothesis, where I write about apologetics, science, philosophy, theology, and history. Due to my relatively recent embrace of intelligent design theory, I’m researching and writing extensively on this topic at the moment."The link to my blog is here: http://philosopherjosh.wordpress.com/
Ruth Preston - I have been a Christian from a very young age. Being brought up in a
Christian home was great, but when I was 18 I decided I wanted to
explore ‘life’. I developed an appetite for illegal raves, drugs and
loose relationships. It totally ruined me. Looking back now I kick
myself for being such a fool, because coming back to Jesus, and his way
of life was the best thing I ever did, and I wish I’d done it sooner.
(You can view my story here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mG2cBWsYgnA).
As
a result, I have become passionate about talking about Jesus, and what
he has done for me. I also found that, being a Christian at university, I
needed to be able to qualify my belief, and therefore, became very
interested theology and defending the Christian faith.
I
currently work for a bank, and have recently enrolled on an MA in
Contemporary Religion. I also love watching films and reading books.
Unusually for a 26 year old woman, Star Wars is my all-time favourite
saga (I wrote a 60 page book based on Star Wars when I was 12!). Having
studied Fine Art and History for my BA, I also like to watch independent
films, ‘Skeletons’ being a good example.
Thank you for what you're doing! We need to hear your voices.
