It wasn't; rather, it was a day on which people would cease from their work in order to rest. There was, then, no official day that was ordained for the purpose of worship. It was expected that worship would be the daily practice of the pious Jew.

Have you ever read this verses?

And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.

And on the sabbath day two lambs of the first year without spot, and two tenth deals of flour for a meat offering, mingled with oil, and the drink offering thereof:
This is the burnt offering of every sabbath, beside the continual burnt offering, and his drink offering.

So, Jesus went to worship on Sabbath, there were special offerings for Sabbath, then how can you say it was only a day of rest and not of worship?

Anyway... ”If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.” Thst is so true with th Christians today, unfortunately... :(Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09946900862745475509noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3540071429816533590.post-1997840991914408952014-05-07T01:01:48.245-07:002014-05-07T01:01:48.245-07:00The principle of the Sabbath is for setting aside ...The principle of the Sabbath is for setting aside a day for God as well as for rest from work, remembering that the Sabbath was created for man..not man for the Sabbath (Mark 2:27). People are welcome set aside their Sabbath from the traditional Jewish of timing from Friday > Saturday but from the time of Jesus' resurrection Christians have historically set aside Sunday to worship God as it is the day he rose from the dead. There is no need to be dogmatic about the actual day unless one wishes to be equally dogmatic about circumcision or not trimming the hair around ones ears. failedatheisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16176322877697068624noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3540071429816533590.post-22216092125978257822014-05-06T13:47:56.591-07:002014-05-06T13:47:56.591-07:00Is Sunday a holy day?
